I completely agree with Mary Lee. It has to be such a hard thing to spend so much time with a dog only to send it on to another owner. Think about the difference Rooney will make in someone's life - and because of the great start you gave him.
I've always seen your big heart as I've watched Rooney grow from cute pup into service dog. You've given so much and you will grieve when it's time, but what a gift for someone in need.
