For the past eight years, Cathy Mere , Mandy Robek, and Julie Balan have hosted PB 10 for 10 during the summer, and nonfiction PB 10 for 10 every February. The idea is that you gather ten of your favorite picture books, possibly connected to a theme, and share them with other picture book lovers. And then you go around and look at everyone else's and spend lots of money, buying new books for your classroom (ok, technically that's not part of it, but that is usually what happens for me). This year, I had the honor of being a first round CYBILS NONFICTION judge. I read 120 books, ranging from early childhood to high school reads. Since I have done several years of picture books for older readers, I decided that this year I would focus on picture books for younger readers.
