POETRY FRIDAY

A VERY, VERY long night helping my son create a brochure for his biology class. Being a parent, and especially the parent of a different kind of learner, sure gives you a whole different perspective on homework, projects, etc.

HOMEWORK
JACK PRELUTSKY

Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!
I wish I could wash you
away in the sink.
If only a bomb
would explode you to bits.
Homework! Oh, homework!
You're giving me fits.

Read the rest of the poem here.

Carol -- I have a different learner, too. Homework hasn't started for him yet, but I feel your pain! He loves to learn, but homework stinks (for all of us).

At EHS, limit of 30 min. max/per class for homework. AND, block schedule. Thank goodness.

And, I have a student who is g/t, but still needs that nudge to get it moving. "Slowride" is my ring for him... only fast on the lacrosse field.

Send them the research... check out homeworklady.com or alfie kohn...

Seriously, it's all about control...
