I somehow dial
my mom’s number
which we disconnected
the weekend
after we wrote
her obituary.
Evidently
heart memory,
like muscle memory,
lasts forever
or maybe even
a little longer...

Hugs, my friend. "Heart Memory" is indeed as strong as (or stronger than) muscle memory.
I love this one. When we relax, lose focus, what remains important bubble to the surface. Heart memory.
Heart memory . . . I can't bring myself to delete my brother's name out of my favorite contacts list, even though I'm sure someone else has his phone number by now.
