POETRY FRIDAY

A week of hallelujah sunrises and a full moon besides…

You Say Grace
You say grace before meals
All right.
But I say grace before the play and the opera,
And grace before the concert and pantomime,
And grace before I open a book,
And grace before sketching, painting,
Swimming, fencing, boxing, walking, playing, dancing;
And grace before I dip the pen in ink.
 G.K. Chesterton

Here Dies Another Day
Here dies another day
During which I have had eyes, ears, hands
And the great world round me;
And with tomorrow begins another.
Why am I allowed two?
G.K. Chesterton

  1. G.K. Chesterton, yay!
    The first poem is new to me. "And grace before I dip the pen in ink." -- love this.

  2. Both of these are wonderful reminders to take time to express gratitude every day. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Sometimes I feel like I'm boring people because I take so many pictures of our sky, but it is amazing, isn't it, and this week, wow! Thanks for your pic, too, Carol! And the poems, nice to see that people were writing/talking about gratitude a long time ago too. Both are wonderful, but I like the first one best. Thanks Carol!

  7. I think the Indian mystic in Tabatha's post would like these poems.

    I do so miss those Colorado Hallelujah sunrises and sunsets. There is MUCH the Ohio sky could learn from the Colorado sky.

    These poems are giving me some ideas for my second round #nerdlution. The first round was all about me. I'm thinking of something more GIVING for this second round...
