Welcome!
Poetry Friday is here today!
I'm so glad to have you visit!
The iris in Colorado have been gorgeous
for the past few weeks.
Went searching for an iris poem
to match a picture I took this week
and found the perfect one by Mary Oliver.
"Praying"
Mary Oliver
It doesn't have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention…

Read the rest of the poem here.
Leave your links in the comment section
and I will round them up several times throughout the day.
Hi Carol! Thanks for hosting! In keeping with the weekl;y art poem parade, we would like to present "El Greco" at
ReplyDeleteThe BALD EGO Blog
Hi Carol! That's a great poem! I wonder if she wrote it after a teen walked by texting and missing the whole beautiful day? There's so much we're missing nowadays.
ReplyDeleteMy P.F. posts will all be up after midnight:
At Random Noodling I contemplate Keanu Reeves' proposed haiku book. I conclude with a few haiku from Basho.
Kurious Kitty looks at Bye-and-Bye by Charles Wright, and, at Kurious K's Kwotes the quote is by Charles Wright.
At my new blog, Kids of the Homefront Army, the poem is called "Air Raid!"
Beautiful iris, and yes, the perfect poem for it!
ReplyDeleteI'm celebrating vegetables today with Barbara Crooker:

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about paying attention to the beauty of the world this week, too. It's firefly season in Ohio right now, and our wet weather has made it a great year for the flashing green lights in the lawn!

Over at TeachingAuthors.com, I'm playing around with the poetic form called a trimeric--it's addictive and fun! Come by, read some, then try your hand at one and share it! ~ April Halprin Wayland, www.TeachingAuthors.com
ReplyDeleteWhoops, that last comment is really from April. She sent it to me last night because she was going to be away today. Hop over to her site and try a trimeric- kind of fun!
