It's also true that as adults, we're rarely going to win that one. You are right, that story will be told at home much differently than it probably happened. I'm remembering many a parent conversation that went a little differently than the actual events I had witnessed. It's always good in the end.

I had to laugh thinking that maybe his initial L was a call for "Literacy Lady." Okay, that's really not even funny. My kids tell me all the time that my years in first grade really messed with my ability to make a good joke. I'm sure it really doesn't work in print vs. live conversation. I appreciated your patience with X; this is something I struggle with quite often. But the harder and faster we push these little people, the more difficult it is to reach resolution that they actually understand and own. I am glad for X that you were where you were at just the right time.Dani Burtsfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05075207835301227845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724394291330902141.post-36749015255086692922018-03-14T19:22:06.588-06:002018-03-14T19:22:06.588-06:00I'm glad you followed through and had the boys...I'm glad you followed through and had the boys clarify what fingers were used.
Never a dull day!Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18102939630771341497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724394291330902141.post-88570720540573616072018-03-14T19:05:47.631-06:002018-03-14T19:05:47.631-06:00Just yesterday I said to another teacher, "No...Just yesterday I said to another teacher, "No one would believe some of the things we go through." I had an experience similar to this so I just added it to my draft folder. :)

I know well the amounts of patience, humor, respect, and love one needs to have to handle the situation as you did.
