Just when I thought things couldn't get any stupider.
I got to school today about 6:30.
One of our first year teachers was having some issues with entering his second trimester grades into the computer. I ran down stairs, from the second floor to the basement, to get my computer so I could help him.
On the way back up the cement stairs, I somehow caught my toe. And tripped forward.
And banged my shin and my computer on the cement stair.
I didn't drop the computer. It never left my hands. The screen didn't crack. But something is really wrong. And everywhere there should be white, there isn't.
Instead, every white area is covered in this bright lavender pink. When I look at it, I think it would be a great color for an Easter dress. But it's not such a great color for a computer screen. In fact, it kind of makes my eyes hurt.
And the photographs of people's faces are surrounded by strands of green and blue hair. They look like they are getting ready for Halloween. Or like someone released a new blue/green stringy hair app that everyone has to try.
I have tried restarting the computer. Multiple times. It's still pink. With blue and green stringy-haired people.
I took it to the computer teacher at school. He just shook his head. This is already a loaner, because my real computer, which is six years old, is having some issues that no one can figure out.
I don't want to tell my boss. She has enough on her plate with school budget and PARCC testing.
I called the Mac repair place. They said depending on what I did, it will cost between $250 and $600. And take three or four business days.
So now I'm going to have to take my computer to get repaired.
And I wonder how I will slice. And do my Welcome Wagon duties. And respond to assignments for my ELA classes.
I really am totally stuck in stupid.

If it still works, you will be looking through a pinkish-purplish haze! It's sad but we all seem to have a love-hate relationship with computers!
Sorry for your rough day, but hopefully sharing it made it a little less painful. I feel like I get "stuck in stupid" from time to time too. Believe me, you're not alone.
And yet you still responded to Slices as well as writing your own. Talk about grit. Here's hoping for a better day.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, but glad you personally didn't break something. Hugs to you Carol, & best wishes for the computer. I'm glad to see pink if you still wish to post with it!
Yikes :/ Computer problems are the worst. I know there are plenty of things that are literally worse than having computer issues, but in the moment something goes wrong, it can seen like the worst thing ever ;) I hope things work out!
You didn't say how badly you were hurt - hope you're okay. Computers are a curse - even tho they can do so much and we get dependent on them. Glad you were able to post
Forget the Welcome Wagon duties, Carol, focus on doing what you need to do.
Ugh!
Some days are diamonds,
some days are stones.
I'm glad you are okay.
I hope things start happening in a positive way for you, soon. I will head over to your people so you don't need to fret about them not getting comments. Wish I could help more.
This drew me in. I was expecting it to go one way, but then it went another. I especially liked the detail about the screen being the same color as an Easter dress.
I'm just glad that you aren't hurt....it is never stupid to try and help another person. I hope you get it fixed or I will mail my old Mac to you....It doesn't have up to date word, so....yes it is a pain. xo
As frustrating it is about he computer, I am so glad that you were not hurt. You know, it just has to get better right?
When it rains, it pours! I told you to take a day for yourself! :) Praying for a quick positive turn around for you!!! Sending positive vibes your way!!
